Adult Piano Lessons in Windsor
It’s never too late to play the piano. Adults come to Windsor Piano School as complete beginners who always wanted to learn, as players returning after twenty years away, and as experienced pianists preparing for diplomas. We have taught adults alongside children since 2008, every teacher is conservatoire-trained, and lessons are one-to-one and shaped entirely around you — the music you want to play, the pace that suits your life, and the goals you set. It starts with a 20-minute taster lesson for £18.

One-to-one tuition, pitched at adult intelligence.
Weekly lessons at 203 Clarence Road, Windsor — evenings and weekends available.
Lessons built for adult learners, not scaled-down children’s lessons.
The worry most adults have
Almost every adult who contacts us says a version of the same thing: “I’ve always wanted to learn, but I’ve left it too late” — or “I learned as a child, but I’ve forgotten everything.”
Neither is true. Adults bring things children don’t: motivation, focus, and a clear idea of the music they love. What adults need is a teacher who works with those strengths rather than a one-size-fits-all method book.
How adult lessons work here
- You start with a 20-minute £18 taster — a real lesson, and how we match you with the teacher whose approach fits you best.
- Repertoire is built around the music you actually want to play, from classical to film, jazz and pop.
- Your teacher explains the mechanics — what your hands, arms and pedalling are doing and why — rather than relying on imitation.
- Grades are available when you want structure, and entirely optional when you don’t.
Wherever you start, there’s a clear next step.
Complete beginner
Posture, hand shape, finding your way around the keyboard and reading simple notation. Most adult beginners play recognisable pieces within the first few weeks.
Returning player
If you learned years ago, more comes back than you expect. We rebuild technique around the music you want to play now — not the exam pieces you left behind.
Confident player
Broader repertoire, secure technique, pedalling, phrasing and musicianship — playing that satisfies you, for its own sake or towards the higher grades.
Advanced and diplomas
Our senior teachers prepare adults for the upper ABRSM grades and diplomas, with repertoire planning and performance preparation to match.
Adult lessons shaped around you
Piano for complete beginners
No experience and no ability to read music needed. A modest digital piano is fine to practise on at first — your teacher will advise before you buy anything.
Returning after years away
Pick up where you actually are, not where you left off. Technique and reading are rebuilt quickly around repertoire you choose.
Playing for pleasure
No exams, no pressure — structured lessons aimed purely at playing the music you love, well.
ABRSM grades
Optional structure for adults who want it, with ABRSM practical grade exams held in our own building as an official ABRSM Private Visit Centre.
Diploma preparation
For experienced pianists: ARSM and diploma-level repertoire, technique and performance preparation with senior teachers.
Exams are optional. The standard isn’t.
Many of our adult students never take an exam — and their lessons are no less structured for it. But if you want the milestones, we are an official ABRSM Private Visit Centre and hold ABRSM practical grade exams at the school, so you can take grades in the room where you have your lessons.
Times that work around work
The school is open weekdays 12:00–21:00 and weekends 09:00–18:00, so evening and weekend lessons are available — and daytime slots are ideal if you work flexibly. We teach at 203 Clarence Road, Windsor, with parking directly next to the studio and free parking in the surrounding streets. Adult students join us from Windsor, Slough, Eton, Datchet, Old Windsor, Langley and Cippenham.

Adult piano lessons in Windsor — FAQs
Am I too old to learn the piano?
No. We teach adult beginners of every age, including retirees starting from scratch. Progress comes from regular practice, not age.
How long does it take an adult to learn the piano?
Most adult beginners play recognisable pieces within weeks and are comfortable with both hands together within a few months. A year of weekly lessons and regular practice produces real, satisfying playing.
How much do adult piano lessons cost?
Weekly one-to-one lessons are £31 for 30 minutes, £43 for 45 minutes or £61 for 60 minutes, plus a refundable £50 registration fee. A 20-minute taster lesson is £18.
Do I need a piano at home?
You will need something to practise on, but a sensible digital piano is fine to begin with. Your teacher will advise on what to buy — don’t purchase anything before your taster.
Do adults have to take ABRSM exams?
No — grades are entirely optional. Many adults learn purely for pleasure. If you do want exams, we hold ABRSM practical grade exams at the school as an official Private Visit Centre.
Can I have piano lessons in the evening or at weekends?
Yes. We teach weekdays 12:00–21:00 and weekends 09:00–18:00, so evening, weekend and flexible daytime lessons are all available.
