ndrew is a freelance musician and drum teacher based in London, originally from Northumberland. He began playing at the age of ten and later had the opportunity to study with the highly respected drum educator Geoff Hutchinson prior to studying jazz performance at Leeds College of Music. After receiving his BA (hons) from LCoM in 2008 he began his performing career, playing regularly at jazz venues, theatres and festivals throughout the UK and Europe.
As a specialist in rudimental drumming, Andrew’s teaching approach puts an emphasis on the fundamental techniques and processes behind playing the instrument. This gives each student the best possible chance of progressing to a high level. Likewise, a wide variety of playing styles are covered in his lessons. Knowledge of and experience in playing many styles of music is important for developing into a well-rounded musician.
As well as teaching at Windsor Piano School, Andrew teaches privately throughout London and has given master-classes in both Swiss rudimental drumming and jazz improvisation at Newcastle University.
